E-Filing of Returns and Tax Payment Challanged in Kerla High Court

A writ petition has filed by The petitioner, Mr M.K. Haridas, who is the Manager of a Kochi-based partnership firm, submitted before the court that the notification is of a compulsory nature without any option for other mode of payment.

He argued that no law allows the Government to make e-filing the only possible means of filing returns and e-payment of tax.

According to him, introducing a new system of payment without granting sufficient time to adopt the new technology is unjustifiable.

The Sales Tax offices in the State are not accepting cheques. Mr Haridas said that dealers have to open an account with SBI or SBT to make e-filing. The password for e-transactions is not immediately provided to the dealers by the banks.

Even after the allotment of passwords, technical snags prevent reliable transactions between the banks and State treasuries, he said.

Objection is justified,

INTENSIVEKS

This is GR8 News.
Someone has taken up the challenge.
It is high time the CBDT understood the kind of neck-wringers they are putting the Tax-Paying public to with the “ON/OFF” Announcements that put the TDS deductors under constant TENSION. There is indeed very little time given by the IT Dept.of IT to the public to “learn all the aspects of e-filing,e-payment,etc.” Why the hell do they not conduct “E-ASSESSMENT” too???
Becoz if that were done the IT Dept. officers upto the peons there would not be able to make the quick buck. As it is most of the IT Officers are NOT conversant with all the aspects of E-governance of IT. How do they expect the public at large to be conversant in the e-whatever???
Kudos to the complainant on this case.
