Dear Sir,

I really happy with the information given in this site and very knowledge to any one. I have some confusion till now regarding tax calculation.

The queries are as follows.

1) Tax can be calculated on basis salary or gross salary (including all allowanace)….pls give solution.

2) Tax can be paid twice?…ie. if i earn Rs. 550,000 p.a. so how much amount i have to pay as tax?

3) How to get exemption from tax if my income is more than 5,00,000?

4) HOw much penalty can be levied if an assesse fails to pay tax on time?

Ratheesh Kumar August 13, 2009 at 1:42 am

kindly explain, what is advance tax

Rajeshwari August 17, 2009 at 9:48 pm

Reply to your queries as follows:
1. Tax is calculated on the Net Salary (Basic Salary + Allowances – Deductions)
2. If you are an Salaried employee, it will be the responsibility of the Company to deduct Tax. You need to submit the Investment Proof if any, Rent Receipt if you claim HRA or any documentary proof for any deduction.
3. The basic exemption limit is Rs.160000 whatever be your income
4. In the case of Salary, the onus is on the company to deduct TDS. If you have any other substantial income you need to pay advance tax on the specified dates. Non payment of advance tax will attract an interest on the tax paid

Dear Sir,

I have got to know about the new proposed tax structure for 2011-2012, it’s really great hat’s off, but one discouragement I see is in 80c where upon withdrawl the amount including principle is taxable I think priciple should not be taxable or otherwise I don’t see any encouragement to save and even it might have a reverse effect on me as suppose today I am in 10% slab and I save 2 lakh and after 5 years if I am in 20% slab and I withdraw that 2 lakhs I will be taxed 20% which does not seem be fair rather I would save it but not show it as 80c and get only minimun tax deducted.
Any thought from you?

Hi,

My rough calculatuions after investing in FULL in 80C and 80D are saying that I am falling short of some 27K ( if proposed 1,90,000 exemption for women falls true ) or some 17K otherwise, to get myself in 10% slab. Or else I ll hv to pay 20%.

Any suggestions of investmest over and above 80C and 80D ?

Regards.

It is so nice to finally find a site which gave a clear picture of the tax slabs. It is a poor show that the national portal and the IT website does not have any information on the tax slabs. Why would that be so?
